Learning Modules
This online, evidence-based education module is designed for parents of first-year NCAA student-athletes. The learning module is built from data-driven understanding of parent involvement in the lives of their NCAA student-athletes. Specifically, it draws on interviews with administrators, coaches, and parents, as well as extensive survey research conducted with student-athletes.
Four learning units (at right) are designed to provide you with the tools and strategies to successfully parent your college student-athletes. Within each unit, you will be presented text and supplemental audiovisual media focused on examples of parent involvement strategies that enhance student- athlete development. Some attention will also be paid to involvement strategies that detract from student-athlete development. You will also be asked to engage in reflective exercises in which you examine your involvement through the eyes of your student-athlete and their coaches. At the end of each unit, you will be asked a series of five questions to assess your learning and comprehension. A aggregate score of 80% across all units will be required to complete the training module.
